How to Set Up Discount Codes
Discount codes are created at Organisation level.
Click on the Discounts tab on the left-hand side menu
There are 3 possible discount types to select:
Global Discount
Global Discount can be applied to any event or merchandise within your organisation. This option is especially useful for flash sale events or rewarding customer loyalty.
If you are creating a Global Discount, you have the option to select whether the discount is to be applied to one ticket or the whole basket ( Is this discount per Ticket?) and you also have the option to choose whether the discount should be applied to the highest or lowest-priced item in the customer's basket.
You then need to choose a name for the discount, the amount and whether it is a fixed discount e.g. £10 off or a percentage discount e.g. 10% off.
Once this has been chosen, you are able to set the date parameters and whether you would like to give the discount to specific customers via their email addresses or to a specific email domain if you would like to provide a certain club or organisation with the discount.
Once complete, choose a name ( case-sensitive) for your discount code which customers can enter when checking out, whether you would like to limit the number used, whether you would like to generate unique codes to prevent the code from being used by people it wasn't intended for and whether you would like to discount the surcharges (if you do not wish the entrant to pay for the purchase).
Event Discount
Event Discount is best for use on specific events to encourage sign up or as a reward for signing up for previous events.
When creating an Event Discount, you are first required to select which event you wish the discount to be applied against and then select the options as per the Global Discount above.
Combo Discounts
Combo Discount will trigger once a specific combination of events or events and merchandise have been applied to a basket. This discount is best for including certain merchandise with an order for a lower price if an event has been signed up for or giving a discount if more than one event has been signed up for at the same time.
For this discount, you will need to enter most of the same details as for the other 2 types:
- the name;
- the amount;
- whether it is fixed or a percentage;
- the date range
- who the code is valid for;
- whether there is a limit on the number of times it can be used; and
- whether the surcharges should be discounted.
The difference is you will also then need to choose the combination of events/ merchandise which will trigger the discount. This could be multiple events, events plus merchandise or a mixture of the 2.
Once you click Add Discount you will receive the following message
Click OK and once the code has been created you can click View on the Combo Discounts and Edit on the code you wish to add a specific name to, see below
