Why do you ask for a mobile number when I sponsor someone?
We ask for a phone number for security and fraud reasons, and there are a number of scenarios where we may call a customer to verify a transaction. We also will often get people lodging what is called a chargeback, where they do not recognise a transaction and tell their bank. In these cases a quick call to the user to clarify the event or person they sponsored quickly and painlessly resolves the matter.
Our sponsorship journey is one of the shortest in the industry. Many of the leading competitors ask donors to create accounts and often have 5+ pages to go through.
